Mayhew focuses on three different activities that members participate in that help them with reelection; Advertising: In The Electoral Connection, Mayhew's first activity that members of congress participate in is advertising. Advertising is when a member of congress tries to get their name out to their constituents in order to make a better image for themselves. Electoral History of Debbie Lesko in the House of Representatives: 2018 Election: In the 2018 election Debbie Lesko ran for the United States House of Representatives for the first time, after nine years in the Arizona House of Representative and the Arizona State Senate. In the primary election Congresswomen Lesko ran against Republican, Sandra Dowling, and won with 77% of the vote. Lesko won by so much because of her years in the Arizona State Legislature, and her ultra conservative views. In the general election, Lesko was up against Democrat Hiral Tipirneni.
